About Us

Assistance League of Greater Cincinnati was founded in 1995 as a Guild of National Assistance League by a handful of enthusiastic, dedicated women with a desire to bring a new philanthropic organization to their community.

Identifying and addressing unmet needs in the Greater Cincinnati area was the sole focus of the all-volunteer group.  They researched, developed and implemented programs with incredible zeal and professionalism.  People began to notice Assistance League of Greater Cincinnati. The membership began to grow, along with requests for expanded programs to serve the many needs.

Hard work helped the tiny guild accomplish all the goals necessary for them to become a chapter.  In 1998 (after only three years of operation), Assistance League of Greater Cincinnati became the 101st Chapter of National Assistance League.

Today Assistance League of Greater Cincinnati enjoys an increasing membership, supports many successful community programs and is recognized by a wide variety of generous sponsors and other philanthropic groups.

The proud, dedicated and hard-working members of Assistance League of Greater Cincinnati remain totally committed to continue their ongoing philosophy of “Making the Connection… Fulfilling the Need” for people in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Assistance League of Greater Cincinnati is an all volunteer philanthropic organization whose mission is to encourage dignity, improve self-esteem, provide comfort and offer hope to individuals within the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.  A small group of approximately eighty members undertakes various community programs because they care about their neighbors.

Operation School Bell® is an Assistance League program in which elementary students receive school uniform clothing, shoes and hygiene supplies.  School personnel select the participants.  Students are bussed to the Assistance League headquarters where they are fitted for their uniforms, jackets and shoes.  This program will allow over 1400 children to begin the school year with dignity in the fall of 2007.

The Assault Survivor Kit® program distributed 1700 kits containing clothing and toiletries to area hospitals and shelters for abuse and rape victims in 2006-07.  Recipients of these kits remain anonymous as hospital and shelter personnel distribute the kits on behalf of Assistance League.  Through this program, Assistance League strives to restore dignity and hope to rape and assault survivors.

College Starter Kits containing essential school supplies are distributed to the students who attend Raymond Walters College, University of Cincinnati Clermont College, Thomas More, and Chatfield College.  Not only do the kits provide necessary supplies but they also convey to students the organization's belief in their success. The College Starter kits support student dreams and hopes, that everyone deserves an opportunity to a better life through education.

Assistance League members are committed to improve the lives of others in an ethical, respectful manner.  With approximately 80 members, Assistance League has documented about 10,000 volunteer hours annually to fulfill its various programs in meeting the needs of the community –

Making the Connection… Fulfilling the Need.
